I guess it is fairly obvious that I did not get back to the blog on Thursday or Friday. This week has been hectic as we will commence Fall semester 2006 at the College of Charleston next week. Until things slow down and I actually get everything ready for Vermont I think I am going to have to just keep posting updates on things. So here goes….
Wednesday night we were able to figure out the size for the images to manually do the SimpleViewer stuff for the portfolio and Blair came by and worked in the darkroom getting ready for her job interview. We had some problems with the enlarger which prompted me to ask kevin for advice again (I think there is some extra felt stuck in it) and I finally ordered the roll your own black and white film and additional chemicals for the darkroom. Kevin gave me an impromptu course in rolling your own film on Friday. It appears “roll you own” is becoming a common term in my life right now. Kevin also told me about The Film Developers Cookbook and The Darkroom Cookbook. Both of which are very interesting and I am filing away in the tomorrow file (here) for further research at a later date.
Friday Blair got her job and called me happily I think the gods were trying to tell me to be quiet Friday because something with a stinger stung me in the forehead and gave me a third evil eye but I did not listen and I upset Jerry which I regret and set me in a tailspin. I have to learn not to ask so many questions. I always forget about Pandora’s box at the most in opportune times. The good news for the day was that Jerry’s Treasure came in Friday and that made me happy since it was exactly what I had wanted (I was afraid that I wouldn’t get the exact nickel I ordered and they would send some other one that didn’t have the artwork I wanted). Some days you take what you can get.
Saturday I gave Jerry his Hobo Nickel and he seemed to enjoy it. (It was a small thank you for all the help he has given me on the website, etc. etc.) Christopher had his first wedding gig today too and I am hoping that it was a lot of fun for him. It’s almost 1am and he still isn’t back so I guessing that they are all having a good time. Jerry stayed for awhile today and we watched X-Files Aliens and Palmetto Bugs (roaches). I liked the alien episode but the palmetto bug one kinda made me queasy. I worked on the images for the portfolio and the slides for Vermont. I just couldn’t take any more words today (essay, resume, etc).
Tomorrow I am hoping to hang shop lights for project Light in the studio and move some stuff around to make better work spaces with power and light. I am very excited about this. If I am successful I will take pictures. I am also planning on finishing the base for Lady Madonna and seeing if it will actually hold this time. This whole process has not been very fun but hopefully the piece will make up for it in the long run.
So… I think we are caught up for now. I will try to post again tomorrow.
Cheers.
