Today I saw a little boy with a black eye and had to peer over him to make sure he was still breathing. He was, he was just out cold in the lobby. I guess technically he wasn’t a “little” boy but since I have officially reached middle age at 36 and he was way under 30 something that’s how I see him. I’m glad he didn’t wake up to see some concerned old lady poking at him to make sure he was alive.

As far as the art I decided to go to the thrift store this evening to see if I could find a pot for the linseed oil. I am going to coat Lady Madonna’s head with hot boiled linseed oil to give it more durability and a sheen. It must have been the only time I have gone for something like this and couldn’t find it. Next will be a trip to the dollar store. I also want to put this precaution in for all others: “be careful when heating …because boiled linseed oil can spontaneously combust, so avoid open flames and crumpled up oily rags”. Again always check to see what the odds are that you are going to kill or permanently damage yourself with your art projects. I can not repeat this enough.

I did however score this! A real live 1978 Dolly Parton Doll in a groovy 70′s pant suit. I think she is going to make a great super hero! Since Misty loves Dolly so (and wasn’t able to go to Dollywood when we went to Gatlinburg for her wedding) I am going to use the wonderful pant suit as her super hero costume. I may make it blue though because blue is her favorite color. A little trivia: The same year this doll came out Dolly was on the cover of Playboy Magazine (October 1978) in a bunny costume.

Since my thrift store adventure took awhile today I wasn’t really able to get much accomplished after work so I decided to make a necklace out of Imogene’s ring. I have holding on to this for quite a while and was happy to be able to start on it. The ring was far too large to wear and I wanted to turn it into a pendant. So, I cut off the ring shank and did some minor silversmithing to create a hanger, added some beads and there we go. Here are some before and after pics.
