My Inside Desk (a.k.a. The Lavender Room)

So this weekend I took a rest and didn’t do to much because all week I have been having trouble separating reality and the funkiness that is always in my brain. It is terribly disconcerting to be in a serious meeting where serious tasks a being assigned by sarcastic red lipped harpies. You have to shake your head. This helps because after you shake your head the real people come back into focus and you feel a little more in control.

The day job is getting a little hectic as we are preparing to teach a 2 week technology pedagogy boot camp to 16 faculty members and our fearless leader has been struck down with migraines leaving the natives in chaos. But enough about the day job. I decided to clean up my inside desk and try figure out where I stood with slides before I order more. I also decided to go with Twyla Tharps idea to make a box for each project I’m working on to collect stuff. Great idea. I think I like it. I highly recommend her book The Creative Habit. It has really helped jump start me in some type of direction. Getting the boxes together also helped me focus a little bit …which as stated earlier has been a little difficult. So I went thru the slides and listed the pieces. 10 sculptures I’m proud enough of to actually submit. That leaves 10 more.

I have quite a few of decent figure drawings but after reviewing the list I got real mental anxiety about it and thought this really really may not be enough. This is difficult for me because I have been working on this for so long and I am afraid to an outsider it just isn’t going to look like much.

I have decided to come up with a Plan B since the reality is that there is a very high likelihood that Vermont is going to say try again. Plan B is my motivation to keep trying for Plan A, the preferred plan, since the idea of it simply terrifies me. What is Plan B: (Something to keep my mind off Plan A and keep me trying)…A Masters in Public Administration/Arts Management taken with Staff Training funds at CofC. What does it require…the GRE …stinking math …AGAIN. I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT!!!!

So that is where we are at today.
